Strategic Communications
These are short examples of strategic communications services provided
by Rebecca Leet & Associates to specific clients.
National Association for the Education
of Young Children
After a half-century as the professional association for early childhood
professionals, NAEYC wanted to begin sharing its knowledge and influence
outside the profession – specifically, to tell government policymakers
and the news media what young children need. It turned to Rebecca
Leet & Associates to develop a strategic communications plan,
and then re-engaged us to execute key elements of the plan while coaching
the organization to develop its internal capacity for such outreach.
Within two years, NAEYC was a sought-after expert in policy discussions
and had become such an influential media resource that Newsweek
magazine asked it to help plan a cover story on young children. In
the 18 years since first working with NAEYC, Rebecca Leet & Associates
has been re-engaged for innumerable projects involving the firm's
services in the areas of message development, communications strategy
and services, and group facilitation.
American Lung Association
Rebecca Leet & Associates created the first strategic marketing
plan for the American Lung Association. As part of this work, we performed
key function audits in ALA's major areas: research, programs, fund
development, and communications. We created the slogan it used for
more than a decade: "When You Can't Breathe, Nothing Else Matters".
And we delivered a multi-part strategy for transitioning the organization
away from its long-time anti-smoking focus. As a result of our work
for ALA nationally, we were engaged by six state affiliates for a
variety of management and communications projects.
American Red Cross
Over a two-year period, Rebecca Leet & Associates was engaged
by the American Red Cross to counsel and serve the organization in
a variety of ways to support existing marketing efforts and to advise
it as it launched its first marketing department. We provided strategic
counsel and communications services, including leadership for two
positioning projects, design of a marketing leadership workshop, and
an Oprah Winfrey-like facilitation of a plenary session at the Red
Cross's annual convention.
City of Hope National Medical Center
Communications key function audits are done for many reasons, and
City of Hope National Medical Center undertook one to determine whether
its publications were returning value to the organization commensurate
with the resources expended. The audit involved review of more than
80 publications from three marketing units of the medical center –
Public Affairs, Clinical Marketing, and Development Marketing and
Communications – and a determination of the degree to which each met
the needs of its intended audience. Recommendations were made relating
to strategy and systemic changes as well as to individual publications
and departments. |
