Strategic Management
These are short examples of strategic management services provided
by Rebecca Leet & Associates to specific clients.
American Rivers
Rebecca Leet & Associates helped American Rivers develop a five-year
strategic plan, an effort that included performing a Situation Analysis,
conducting a key function audit of its programs, facilitating plan
development over several meetings (including a two-day retreat with
its Board and staff), and consultation with the staff to make the
plan operational in the subsequent budget and annual planning process.
The plan took the organization in a dramatically new direction and
helped double its size over the period of the plan.
Georgia Child Advocacy Work Group
Rebecca Leet & Associates was engaged by a group of statewide
leaders to conduct a situation analysis on the effectiveness of the
state's long-time child advocacy organization. After a survey of state
and local leaders, a landscape assessment of other child advocacy
organizations, in-person interviews of key individuals, and facilitated
discussion with the work group, Rebecca Leet & Associates recommended
that the existing organization be closed and a new group created –
the recommendation adopted by the group. The new group was launched
in 2003.
Friends of the Earth
Prior to embarking on creation of Friends of the Earth's first strategic
plan, Rebecca Leet & Associates conducted a key function audit of
FOE's policy programs – the heart of the organization's activities.
Such audits are done for various purposes; the purpose of this one
was to ensure that the Board-staff strategic planning team shared
a common understanding of exactly what the organization was doing.
The planning team was surprised by many audit findings – for example,
that FOE spent more money on a program considered marginal and likely
to be eliminated than on seven programs considered important. The
audit results helped focus the planning team on the critical issues
that needed to be addressed. |
